Acoustic Guitar Arrangements

August 1st, 2021

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine held a beautiful backyard wedding and invited me to play during the ceremony. The couple was interested in solo fingerstyle guitar, and had a few sample recordings to imitate. Though I was a bit out of practice when the request came in, I spent much of the winter and spring of this year arranging and practicing. It was a lot of fun and I am really proud of the results!

Another big bonus from the project is that I now have three of the arrangements for sale! You can check out the following on SheetMusicPlus:

Learning Mandolin

July 28th, 2019

Screen Shot 2019-07-29 at 11.07.57 AMSince early college, mandolin has been top on my “next instrument to learn” list. I did finally start playing a few years ago when my former bandmates from Whiskey Doubles gifted me a mandolin as a new-house gift, and I did end up playing two songs with that group on mandolin, but never really felt comfortable with the instrument. After a few years of it mostly just hanging on the wall, I started playing it near daily this year, usually 15-30 minutes a day, teaching myself some bluegrass and americana staples, as well as working on my own arrangements of songs like “Amazing Grace” and “When the Saints Go Marching In”. And now I’ve just finished my first gig with the instrument!

I don’t know where she found it, but my wife found this French video detailing the Bosch painting which features a good chunk of my metal version of the ancient music!

{ELSE} Poster Design

December 20th, 2014

With {ELSE} booking more shows, I’m designing a lot more posters to try to reach the biggest audience possible. It’s good for me to have additional design projects as I don’t get many opportunities to flex those muscles. Per our brand and style, there’s a lot of black, white, and orange, as well as some grungy elements. Check out some of my favorites!

Those Who Dig

January 18th, 2014

Those Who Dig is a music blog co-founded and now administered by my friend and bandmate, Ivan Eisenberg. The blog fell into a lull over the last year or so, but we’re kicking it up again with posts and a new video series focusing on local music. We’re of course focusing on the Milwaukee scene for now, but hope to add satellite authors soon. I haven’t officially posted anything to the blog yet, but I will soon!

Classical Guitar Recordings

June 29th, 2013

After owning my finger-style guitar for nearly 3 years I finally sat down and recording some material with it. I rerecorded an old finger-style favorite that previously had only been recording on an electric guitar. I also recorded two “new” songs, meaning they’re new recordings but one song was written nearly 7 years ago.
