Lyst – Sector 1 Music

September 20th, 2012

I began composing music for an independent video game called Lyst, which is a tribute to the style of the Myst games. Lyst is darker, taking place in an abandoned experimental facility on an asteroid hurtling towards the sun. The player awakes not remembering much about their circumstances, and must piece together clues to escape in time. Read the rest of this entry »

Myst

April 28th, 2012

A post-rock soundtrack for a video tribute to the video game series, Myst. Electronic samples come from Absynth, and guitars were recorded on my ESP LTC EC1000 Deluxe using a Line6 POD X3 Live.

Silent Hill

April 1st, 2012

A new soundtrack to the classic horror/survival game, Silent Hill. Orchestral sounds are provided by EWQL Symphonic Gold, electronics from Absynth, and a few bass tracks were recorded with my trusty Fender Precision Deluxe.

Solo Guitar Work

June 16th, 2011

I’ve always enjoyed playing fingerstyle guitar and have written a handful of tunes in the style. Many of these recordings were done when I only owned a cheap electric guitar, so I plan on going back and rerecording nearly everything with the Breedlove I purchased in 2010. All You Can Eat – Medley

June 6th, 2011

Medley of music used for All You Can Eat. The music aims to capture the extraordinarily outdated style and thinking of the film’s characters through 80s synth pop and spaghetti western dramatic music.

All You Can Eat – Title Theme

June 6th, 2011

The over-the-top spaghetti western/80s glam metal and pop theme to the equally ridiculous film about a modern man with outdated fashion and delusional dreams of being a hot dog eating champion.

Halo Wars

February 28th, 2011

A few years ago there was a competition to score the Halo Wars video game trailer. I didn’t enter at the time, but I decided to finally make some music for it anyway. Here’s my orchestral/electronic score rendered using EWQL Symphonic Gold, NI Kore Player, and NI Kontakt Player in Sonar 8.5

Else

August 15th, 2010

I founded Else in 2010 with the guitarist from Effigy and A Life Elided. We wrote and recorded nearly 40 tracks, eventually honing in on a really exciting style which combines ambient post-rock sounds, aggressive metal riffs, electronic influences, and extended chords. We are currently looking for more band members to complete the line up.

Solo Bass Work

May 16th, 2008

I really enjoy playing and extending the bass guitar, especially with big leaps, faster passages, and melodic playing. Here are some solo bass guitar pieces I’ve written and recorded over the years. Read the rest of this entry »

Music for Opened Strings

May 7th, 2008

I never understood why the sostenuto pedal is used so little because I find it so fascinating. The first really neat use of this pedal which I encountered is in Schoenberg’s Drei KlavierstĂĽcke, op 11. In this piece, Schoenberg instructs the performer to silently depress a group of pitches, depress the sostenuto pedal, and then play loud interruptions with both hands, causing these opened strings to resonate.
