Of the North Gig at Tonic Tavern

January 2nd, 2013

This last New Year’s Eve Eve Of the North played a gig at Tonic Tavern with Pay the Devil. The show was absolutely amazing with a great turnout, a receptive audience, and a really fun opening act. This was my first show with the full band and it couldn’t have gone any better.  Read the rest of this entry »

New A Life Elided Song – Skew

December 21st, 2012

An unused metal song, some slap bass, and some dub step elements, throw it all together and call it a techno song. Yet another scrapped Else song has been turned into something for A Life Elided. Check out “Skew” on the A Life Elided website »

Of the North at Tonic Tavern – Dec 30th

December 6th, 2012

Of the North will be playing at Tonic Tavern on Dec 30th at about 8 pm. This’ll be my first gig with the full band (bass, additional vocals, and trumpet) so that’s exciting! I also have revised most of my cello parts and will be showing off a bit more. The show is free and Pay the Devil, a Milwaukee bluegrass band will be opening for us. I’m sure there’ll be a video or two posted once the show is done, but please come out and watch the whole show.

Else Needs Vocals and Drums

December 6th, 2012

So, I’ve been working on writing and recording for Else for the last year or so, originally intending to play bass. After about a 6 month hunt for a drummer, I resigned myself to sitting behind the kit as I could actually handle the changing meters and aggressive beats featured in our music and we brought in Jon Miller to play bass. I then took another turn and decided I’d play 2nd guitar and work on providing most of the FX for the band through my POD X3 Live. We’ve been playing in that configuration for a few rehearsals now and things are beginning to sound amazing.

What this means is that we really need vocals and some drums! There’s got to be someone out there who can help out.

Cello Recording with Every Day Use

October 26th, 2012

Way back in high school I recorded a cello track for a friend’s punk band. I really enjoyed the song and recording this was one of my first experiences in a real sound studio. I’ve had the mp3 in regular rotation at home for a long time now, but only recently did I find the song online (and subsequently found out what the track’s actual title is). Anyway, hear my cello contribution to “My Conclusion” on Every Day Use’s Last FM page »

Of the North – Acoustician

October 12th, 2012

The song “Acoustician” during Of the North’s 10/10/12 gig at Art Bar. This night was my debut on cello with this group!

Of the North

September 2nd, 2012

I joined Of the North, a Milwaukee based folk band on cello! The band has played a handful of shows at the Milwaukee Public Market, Art Bar, and a few other venues. They have a 3-song EP currently recorded and are looking to record a full CD this Fall. I hope to use the versatility of the cello to add to their overall sound, and am greatly looking forward to performing again.

New Else Song – 2012-07-09

July 12th, 2012

I’m quite proud of this new song I wrote and recorded for Else. This track really displays the metal influences while maintaining the strong bass lines and electronic layers that have defined the Else sound. I’m really proud of the key changes in the bridge of this one. Take a listen on ElseTheBand.com »

New A Life Elided Song – Just This

May 25th, 2012

Another song that started off as an Else track, this heavy song is in drop D and 5/8. This song was sort of a flop in the Else playlist, but I knew it had potential. Some serious reworking of the guitar and bass tones, a new approach to the song order, and of course a heavy dose of electronics really turned this one around. Take a listen on aLifeElided.net »
