I’m quite proud of this new song I wrote and recorded for Else. This track really displays the metal influences while maintaining the strong bass lines and electronic layers that have defined the Else sound. Another song that started off as an Else track, this heavy song is in drop D and 5/8. This song was sort of a flop in the Else playlist, but I knew it had potential. Some serious reworking of the guitar and bass tones, a new approach to the song order, and of course a heavy dose of electronics really turned this one around. Take a listen on aLifeElided.net »

I wrote and recorded a new song for Else this week. It, like most of the other Else tunes, has the clever name of the date it originated. A post-rock soundtrack for a video tribute to the video game series, Myst. Electronic samples come from Absynth, and guitars were recorded on my ESP LTC EC1000 Deluxe using a Line6 POD X3 Live.

An arrangement of “Maps” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for string quartet. The MIDI rendering was done through EWQL Symphonic Gold and the performance is by the Echelon String Quartet.

“We’re There” was originally an Else song, but was deemed to not truly be in the Else style. I rerecorded the guitar and bass parts with some different sounds, added new layers of drums and fx, and then finally wrote a melody over the top. One of my favorites but an overall lesser known song from Bush, “Swallowed” was a lot of fun to arrange for quartet. The original has some interesting tertiary harmonies which I extended in some parts of the arrangement.

A new soundtrack to the classic horror/survival game, Silent Hill. Orchestral sounds are provided by EWQL Symphonic Gold, electronics from Absynth, and a few bass tracks were recorded with my trusty Fender Precision Deluxe.

I arranged Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love” for the Echelon String Quartet and they have since added it to their regular repertoire. This video comes from a Halloween themed event called the Barn Owl Ballyhoo in October of 2011.
